Well, I’d have to say within the last 30 seconds was the last time I surprised myself. I WAS working on the editorial I have to write for homework and totally forgot about it because blogging has become fun…and that doesn’t sound lame or anything. >.>
Upon seriously considering the question, however, I think that if you don’t surprise yourself everyday, then something is wrong with you. People are constantly growing and changing, learning more about themselves and the world. If your growth doesn’t take you somewhere you surprise yourself, maybe you need to broaden your perspective. Personally, it would be more worrying to me if I didn’t surprise myself.
There have been big things that I’ve surprised myself over, like how far I’ve found I’ll go for those I care about; and small things I’ve surprised myself over, like how I can take so much pleasure in walking home while listening to music and checking out the stars.
Overall, I think that it’s not even change that brings out surprises, but being able to appreciate the little things in life. (Like hits and comments on your blog! ^_^)
When you notice the little things, everything becomes new and amusing, and you’ll either surprise yourself or be surprised by something else.
Like how mushy you can be when you don’t sleep enough.
